A Letter from Rebecca St James while recording for her new album out in Oct 2005.
Hey from the Studio!
I am currently sitting here writing to you, while we cut guitars on
two of my new songs, 'Love Being Loved By You' and 'Alive'. In
studio-lingo, 'cut' means record, and the cutting today is going well.
Every now and then I contribute my two cents, which sometimes leads to
a good idea and sometimes not! :) That's one of the fun things about
the studio... everyone puts in their ideas and at the end of the day
the best one wins! It's a very creative, sometimes stressful but
mostly enjoyable environment. After working hard on writing a song
it's very exciting to see it begin to come together.
Recording has been going very well... I'm very excited about what God
is doing on this project. I am probably more excited about making
music today than I have ever been. This album is more rock than any of
my other albums other than GOD but it still has an accessible feel to
it. We are really being quite experimental in the studio...our goal is
to make really fresh sounding, outside-the-box music that has
powerful, life-changing lyrics. I was telling a guy from my record
label today that I feel that the lyrics I'm writing for this project
couple very real, vulnerable thoughts with God's hope. Those are the
two things that I feel our generation today is looking for - reality
and hope.
Anyway, the point of this email was not just to give you a glimpse
into studio life but more importantly, to thank you for your prayers.
My producers, co-writers and I are really seeing the answers to those
prayers. Please continue to pray that God will give us the
inspiration for the last few songs that need to be written and that He
will guide us as we create.
You are a blessing to our ministry.
With love in Jesus,
Rebecca St. James
